PRIVATE AND FAMILY LIFE VISA
You can get a private and family life visa if you have personal or family attachements to France. As you can surely understand, you can be granted this visa if you stayed in France for a minimum period of time. Check out our article for more information.

Who is concerned ?
You can get a "private and family life" visa if you have personal or family attachements to France. This can be the case if :
- You are married to a person who holds French nationality ;
- You are PACSed to a person who holds French nationality ;
- Your children hold French nationality ;
- Your family holds a current and valid visa in France ;
- You are over 18 years old and came to France via family reunification ;
- You came to France as a minor ;
- You have employment injury benefits in France ;
- You are a foreigner dealing with an illness ;
- You are a victim of domestic violence, human trafficking or prostitution ;
- You have humanitarian or exceptional motives to come to France ;
- You are hosted by an "organisme d'accueil communautaire et d'activités solidaires".
What are the conditions ?
You will need to prove :
- that your family life is in France (the duration will depend on the motive) ;
- the strength of your relationship to your family in France ;
- that your family life is stable ;
- your activities in France ;
- the nature of your attachments to your family members who live in your home country.
As you can surely understand, you can be granted this visa if you stayed in France for a minimum period of time. If you are married to a person who holds French nationality, you will need to prove that your family life has lasted at least 6 months. If you are PACSed, your family life must have lasted at least 1 year. If you are the parents of French children, you will need to prove that you have taken care of them and their education since their birth (or at least 2 years).
If you and your family have just arrived in France, you may no longer apply for this particular visa. We suggest that you request a professional activity visa.
What is the duration of this visa ?
This is a temporary 1 year visa that would allow you to work without obtaining a work permit.
Depending on the motive, it will be possible to request a multi-annual visa, two months before the expiration of your annual visa if, for example, you have French children or are married or PACSed to a person holding French nationality.
