Can I cancel my home insurance policy ?

When you decide to rent an apartment or buy a house, you need to provide proof that you have home insurance.

What happens if you move out of your home or apartment before the end of your contract?

In order to cancel your home insurance, you will need to inform your insurance company by " lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception" that you would like to cancel your home insurance.

FYI: There is often a deadline that needs to be respected in order for your home insurance to not to be automatically renewed. Always check your contract.

It may happen that your insurance company will ask you to provide proof that you have moved out.

There are many ways to prove that you have moved out:

- an "état des lieux des sortie"

- a new lease mentioning your new address

- phone, electricity, water bills mentioning your new address

- a pay-slip mentioning your new address
